ISLA offers different levels of Spanish and great flexibility. Professionals and college students may select from more than 30 courses. The Institute has well trained teachers, all of the educated from PUCMM, considered to be one of the best universities in Latin America. All our teachers have been teaching Spanish to foreigners for at least 8 years.

ISLA is a small institute with a unique atmosphere, where all the students feel like family. In this Christian atmosphere, pastoral support, guidance and encouragement is available.
Our immersion program includes housing with carefully selected Dominican families, all meals and laundry service, two excursions per month, daily snacks, dance classes, workshops on art, history and Caribbean culture, pick up at Santiago International Airport,
Photocopying and access to Internet.

ISLA is located in Santiago, the second largest city in Dominican Republic. Santiago has a well organized and inexpensive transport system. It is very easy to find your way around the city. You can go from Santiago to any part of the country by air-conditioned buses for a low fare.

Spanish is the fourth most spoken language in the world. In the year 2008, Spanish is the mother tongue for over 350 million people. It is the official language in 21 countries and one of the official languages in several international organizations such as UN, UNESCO and GATT,whether you are a professional, missionary, student, businessman or tourist, learning Spanish enables you to communicate with around 8% of the world population.
About us

Instituto Superior de la Lengua Espanola y Asociados (ISLA), was founded on January 8, 2001 by Professor Arelis Garcia who has been working with university students from the United States since 1980. Her experience also includes working with missionaries, businessmen and teachers among others.

Before starting her own institute, she was director of the Spanish Immersion Programs at UNEV university. She has also been a professor at PUCMM and UCATESI universities for more than 10 years.
